Terra Legno's engineered wood flooring is not only superior in quality and aesthetic appeal to solid wood flooring, but it also makes significantly less of an impact on the environment.

Utilizing a process that allows for the use of much younger and smaller trees, Terra Legno produces up to three times more square feet of flooring per tree harvested. In addition, the cross-ply constructed plywoods used contain almost 100% rapidly-renewable materials, which grow at a faster rate than old-growth hardwood trees.

It is common knowledge that trees absorb the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and produce the oxygen that we breathe. What many people are not aware of, however, is how using wood as a building product helps contribute to this natural cycle.

As trees mature they lose more and more of their ability to absorb carbon from the air around them. If they are allowed to die and rot naturally, the carbon in these trees is released back into the atmosphere. Harvesting these trees for building material at the right time traps this carbon in the wood. In this way, wood is much more beneficial for the environment than concrete or steel.

Wood is also one of the most energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building materials to produce. It takes far less energy to manufacture wood than it does to manufacture the same amount of steel, glass or concrete.

Building with wood continues to contribute to energy efficiency and environmental conservation even after the building process is complete. Structures built with wood framing are naturally insulated and maintain their temperatures more easily than those without. Overall, it takes less to heat and cool these structures, making them both more green and more cost-efficient.
